MyWeather Awarded Broad Patent for its Highly Acclaimed Online Storm Warning Service

Partner Television Stations Benefit from the Personalization and Precision of the Exclusive Early Warning System

Madison, Wis., January 20, 2004 - MyWeather® LLC, leading provider of privately branded weather services to more than 550 web sites, today announced patent protection for its pioneering storm warning system that sends personalized alerts when an approaching storm matches an individual?s criteria, including type of storm and address-specific locations. This technology anchors Premium Personal MicroCast, a fee-based service MyWeather?s partner television stations fully brand and use to generate revenue from the growing paid content industry.

"Our viewers want to know when a storm is going to hit their home, if it's dangerous, and how long it's going to last. They thank us for offering them family security for such a small fee," said Brad Streit, General Manager of KLTV-TV - Tyler, TX. "We congratulate MyWeather for patent protecting their storm warning system. That way, we know we've chosen the most personal and precise storm warning product on the market, which we've branded Stormtracker 7 Premium Personal Forecast."

MyWeather's newly patented technology is the most personalized system of storm warnings available online. Instead of countywide alerts for all weather events, like those given by the National Weather Service, MyWeather only notifies individuals for specific storms that match their criteria, such as the type of storm and if it will reach their address-specific locations. Viewers also choose how they are alerted, such as by e-mail, wireless device or a blinking computer tray icon.

"The quality and usefulness of the storm warning technology is a key reason why Premium Personal MicroCast has been so attractive to viewers," said Chris Kelly, vice president of premium services. "Driving significant, new online revenue is a key priority for many of our partner stations, and Premium Personal MicroCast helps them achieve it."

Premium Personal MicroCast is a highly personal, interactive weather suite that includes nationwide severe weather outlooks, regional time-lapse maps for current radar, satellite and temperature, and animated forecasts detailing hour-by-hour progression of future weather conditions. For a small monthly fee, a viewer can access up-to-date information at anytime through a MyWeather partner station?s web site. Partner stations using MyWeather's market-exclusive flagship service, Personal MicroCast, can offer Premium Personal MicroCast to their viewers at no cost to the station and share in subscriber revenue.

The storm warning system and method is protected under patent number 6,654,689 and was issued November 25, 2003. In 2002, MyWeather also received a patent on its market-exclusive service, Personal MicroCast, which allows television stations to fully brand the service and offer free personalized forecasts to their viewers through the station's site.
