Madison, Wis., March 4, 2004 -- Weather Central Inc., provider of state-of-the-art broadcast, online and print weather solutions, today announced the launch of its patented, market-exclusive Personal MicroCast service with Tampa Bay Online (TBO.com), the interactive service of WFLA-TV News Channel 8 and The Tampa Tribune.
"Relevant and up-to-the-moment weather coverage is one of our strategic imperatives. Personal MicroCast enables our Storm Team 8 meteorologists to connect personally and frequently with our audience so that they may make better, more informed decisions in their daily life," said Kirk Read, General Manager of TBO.com. "Weather Central's tools offer current and future states of weather down to a specific address and in a very user-friendly fashion that's wrapped in TBO.com's branding and design."
Personal MicroCast combines the unique style of TBO.com with user-customized forecasts for address-specific locations. Subscribers can also opt to receive up to two personalized weather e-mails daily, immediate severe weather notifications for the counties and weather conditions of their choice, and a station-branded tray icon that alerts the viewer to personalized severe weather and updated forecasts.
