May has an average of 389 tornadoes, followed by June and July.  See chart

Deadly Lightning:
-Lightning is the #2 weather killer in the US, killing more than tornadoes and hurricanes combined (floods are the most deadly)
-Florida leads the US in lightning deaths, injuries and casualties
-Lightning kills about 100 people each year and injures about 1,000.

 

Floods
-Nearly half of all flash flood fatalities are vehicle-related, -Most flash floods are caused by slow moving thunderstorms, thunderstorms that move repeatedly over the same area or heavy rains from tropical storms and hurricanes -Flash floods can roll boulders, tear out trees, destroy buildings and bridges, and scour out new channels
